Process Stages
In the first stage of this process, the waste is shredded and moistened to reduce the volume and to insure that all processed waste receives a uniform application of disinfecting heat. The shredded waste then moves along a screw conveyor enclosed within the unit, and is treated with microwave technology at relatively low temperatures. These unique features prevent the emissions commonly associated with other medical waste disposal methods. The treatment creates no odors and minimizes exposure to neighboring structures. Numerous safety checks are built in throughout the process, to assure a complete and thorough disinfection. The process effectively reduces the volume of the waste by 80% and the resulting waste is non-infectious and can be disposed of like any other trash. |
